Contribute to Project Northstar

Founded in 1989 as The Homeless Children’s Tutorial Project, Project Northstar is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization with a proven track record of providing tutors and mentors to children who are homeless or who live in neighborhoods where homelessness poses an imminent risk. Since its inception, Project Northstar has served over 1200 children and was one of twenty-one organizations to receive the 1999 President’s Service Award through the Points of Light Foundation.

Project Northstar is a 501 (c) 3 organization. All donations to the organization are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Your support can help us brighten the lives of homeless and disadvantaged children in Washington, D.C. There are many ways that you can contribute:

  • Make a check or money order payable to “Project Northstar” and mail to:

  • Do you work for a company that offers a Matching Gifts program? Many companies will match your donation to Project Northstar dollar for dollar. Check with your company’s Community Relations or Human Resources office.

  • Are you a federal employee or do you work for a company that participates in United Way? You can make an yearly, monthly or weekly donation to Project Northstar. Project Northstar’s United Way code is 8926. The CFC code is 99598.
