Project Northstar is a non-profit organization
whose fundamental mission is to help children who are homeless or disadvantaged overcome barriers to a quality education. Partnering with parents, educators, donors and diverse volunteers, we provide one-on-one tutoring, mentoring and enrichment activities to students in grades 1-12 to help pave the way to success in school and life. We strive to be a beacon – a north star – by which children can find their way to a better, brighter future.

Project Northstar Summer Programming!

Project Northstar is operating two programs during the summer of 2008.

The Financial Literacy Program is designed to teach older students the basics of managing their finances. This program will run from July 1st-July 13th at the Josephine Butler Parks Center (2437 15th St. NW).

The Summer Reading Program will help to strengthen the reading skills of students reading at a fifth grade level and below. This program will run from June 1st-July 12th at the Salvation Army (3335 Sherman Ave. NW).

If you would like to volunteer for any of the Project Northstar summer programs, please contact Katie Black at kblack@projectnorthstar.org.
